Dr. Roynny Sanchez Gil, MD

Dr. Roynny Sanchez Gil went through surgical training twice, which puts him in a genuinely rare category. He earned his medical degree from Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado in Venezuela and completed his general surgery residency and a fellowship in trauma and surgical critical care at Universidad Central de Venezuela University Hospital.

After practicing in Venezuela, he relocated to the United States and started his surgical training over from scratch, completing a full second general surgery residency here. During both programs he published multiple scientific articles and presented research on endocrine topics, including work presented alongside recognized leaders in the field.

Endocrinology runs through everything he does. He operates on the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands, and pancreas, but he also has a serious focus on obesity and weight loss. His take is that obesity affects the entire body and that addressing it properly, whether through surgery, medication, or both, changes what's possible for patients long term.

He's a strong believer in GLP-1 medications and keeps a close eye on what's coming next in the space, especially the new oral formulations in development. He currently practices at Halifax Health in Daytona Beach, a University of Florida Health affiliate, and holds an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of General and Endocrine Surgery at the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine.

He is a member of the American Board of Surgery (board eligible) and the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, and also runs IV World, a medical spa in Doral focused on weight loss and wellness. Training in two different countries, under two different systems, shaped how he thinks about surgery and patient care in ways that are hard to replicate any other way.
