Dr. Quoc N. Dang, DO

Dr. Quoc N. Dang completed his general surgery residency in Miami and went on to do a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery, where he focused on laparoscopic and robotic techniques. Early in his career he started seeing more and more patients struggling with obesity, and that's what pulled him toward bariatric surgery.

He got serious about surgical weight loss because the need in his community was real and growing. At the same time, he understood that surgery isn't the right starting point for everyone. Medical weight loss is less invasive, often very effective, and sometimes what a patient needs before any surgical decision gets made.

What changed his thinking was watching what happened after patients lost significant weight. The metabolic improvements were real: chronic conditions resolved, medications got dropped. But a lot of patients were left with loose skin that became its own obstacle. He saw it affect how people felt about their results and about themselves.

That's what led him to pursue a second fellowship, this one in cosmetic surgery. He's now board certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and has built his practice around following patients through the full arc: medical weight loss, surgery if needed, and body contouring on the other side.

He's also closely following the GLP-1 space, particularly the newer oral medications coming through the pipeline, and sees them as a meaningful shift in how weight loss gets managed before surgery ever comes into the picture.
